Introduction

Your privacy is very important to me, and you can be confident that your personal information will be kept safe and secure and will only be used for the purpose it was given to me.

This privacy notice provides you with important information on the following:

  • How I collect and use your personal data

  • Who I share your personal information with

  • How I store it securely

  • Your rights and obligations

This privacy notice applies to you if you access or apply for my services over the phone, or online.  You may access certain areas of my website without providing any data at all.  However, you will be required to provide data to access therapy services.

All personal data is collected and stored in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018.

Type of information collected and how it is used:

I am a registered data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).  I collect personal details with the express purpose of providing counselling and psychotherapeutic services. This may include:

  •  Full name

  • Home address

  • Mobile/Telephone number

  • Email address

  • Date of birth

  • Emergency person’s contact details

  • GP contact details

  • Medication

  • Any additional information required to provide counselling and psychotherapeutic services

 

How I store your data:

All digital data are stored securely within a GDPR-compliant cloud-based records system with password protection and encryption.  Paper-based information is stored in a locked cabinet.  The information is stored for 6 years following the end of therapy as required by my insurance provider.  Following that it is destroyed safely.  Data collected from prospective clients who do not start therapy, gets destroyed with immediate effect.

 

Sharing of data:

Your data may need to be shared due to legal requirements such as safeguarding.  I will always aim to gain consent prior.  However, I do reserve the right to act without consent where I deem there to be a risk of harm to yourself or others or a breach of law in me not doing so.

 

Your rights:

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of your personal data in writing

  • Ask me to correct any inaccuracies in your data

  • Request that I erase your data when it is no longer needed

  • Withdrawing you consent to data processing at any time

  • Objecting to the processing of personal data

  • Lodging a complaint with the ICO
